This is my daughter and her husband. I call her “Red Seal” because that is the highest achievement that a chef can earn. She is not a chef but is a Red Seal daughter and my Red Seal Virtual Assistant. Besides that, she lives kind of like Martha Stewart. Everything (including her) appears to be beautiful all the time.
It is interesting that when you have family as your staff, the roles can blur. That means that when she asked for a week to go to Maui, I not only didn’t have an assistant but also became the grandma caregiver!
Wonderboy’s real name is Adam but I dubbed him many years ago. Sometimes people think that is a real compliment because it implies “Super hero”. In the beginning it was more of a redneck statement like “I wonder about that boy”. I think we have a really good relationship. It’s kind of “live and let live”. It must be improving though because I never saw him so absolutely thrilled to see me as he was yesterday when I drove through a horrible blizzard to be the grannie nanny while they are away.
Well, this morning they got ready. The youngest son, Andrew, set his watch and kept asking when they were leaving. During the last hug and kiss he said “I’ll miss you” and then, under his breath said “Not for long”. You see he is pumped up about the fact that he has a full-time playmate (me) to entertain him.
Let me introduce you to the rest of the family:
This is Alexander and Andrew in the innocent days.
Aren’t they cute!

Well I woke up his morning and found that Adam and I are still in paradise. I am feeling bad that the family is enduring the cold weather, but am sure that i will get over it.
I am having memories of our day yesterday. We took moms advice on making “Life an Adventure” and boy did we ever!!!!! We decided to go on the search for “Black Sand Beach” for my sand collection and found that there were three beaches that we had to walk through on the shores. Big Beach was beautiful and the first of the three. We then entered little beach and half way through found that there must be a rule that clothing is optional!!! Lets just say there is alot of vegitation on this island! Lots of twigs and berries. We of course picked up the speed to try to find the third beach. Little did we know that we would have to walk through what felt like 20 miles of lava rock and over the 2200 foot mountain that we have dubbed “Khei Mountain”. At one point we got lost but were able to confirm directions from yet another naked wanderer in the woods. I am not sure why he was so far away from his little beach and Adam and I still wonder if he was wearing shoes.
We made it to the bottom of the other side of the mountain and had several locals frowning at us when we reached the bottom. The hike was well worth it! We had arrived at a beach full of a salt and pepper sand!!!! So cool!!!! I of course got my sample and then we headed for the road. (I was not wanting to travel back the way we came)
There was a fish taco stand near and so Adam had a snack!!
We headed back to the condo in our rented falling apart jeep, sat by the pool until the sun set and went out for a wonderful dinner. I had ONO Fish and Adam had steak….
Well better go…being called…..off to see 60′waves!!!!! Aparently its a once in a lifetime occurance…..Surfers here from all over!!!
